Part of ArtWorks for Freedom | ACTON DC!, ArtWorks for Freedom’s human trafficking awareness campaign in the Washington, D.C. metro region, join us for a series of FREE film screenings in partnership with the DC Public Library!
Between October 18 – October 26, catch five award-winning documentary films, including: “Not My Life”, “La Cosecha (The Harvest)”, “Food Chains”, “The Dark Side of Chocolate” and “Very Young Girls.” Each film explores a different aspect of human trafficking and modern slavery – from food agriculture to supply chains and sex trafficking – each film offers a piercing look at the human beings who suffer under this worldwide atrocity. More importantly, these films challenge us all to no longer remain complicit in its proliferation.
Film screenings will take place at various DC Library locations, including:
- “Not My Life,” Petworth, Oct. 18, 7 PM, followed by discussion with Cara Hagan of GoodWeave and Elizabeth Landau of Amara Legal Center.
- “La Cosecha (The Harvest),” Mt. Pleasant, Oct. 19, 6:30 PM, followed by discussion with Reid Macki of the Child Labor Coalition.
- “Food Chains,” Takoma Park, Oct. 21 1:30 PM, followed by discussion with Carlos Izurieta of DC Fair Food.
- “The Dark Side of Chocolate,” Tenley-Friendship, Oct. 24, 6:30 PM, followed by discussion with Judy Gearhart of the International Labor Rights Forum.
- “Very Young Girls,” Northeast, Oct. 26, 6:30 PM, followed by a discussion with Elizabeth Landau of Amara Legal Center.
Each film screening will be followed by a discussion with experts and activists working in the anti-human trafficking field.
