Alison M. Friedman is the founding director of Ping Pong Productions, a producing and consulting organization headquartered in Beijing with the mission of cultural diplomacy. Partners include the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China; various Embassies; TAO Dance Theater; Mark Morris Dance Group; Tim Robbins and The Actors’ Gang; and the National Theatre Company of China. Her productions have toured Lincoln Center, Sydney Opera House, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, China’s National Center for the Performing Arts, among others.
Ms. Friedman lectures internationally in both English and Mandarin about China’s developing arts market. She was a 2002-03 Fulbright scholar in China; a 2009-10 arts management fellow at the Kennedy Center; and a 2011 fellow of the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA). In 2013 she was invited to join ISPA’s board of directors. She is part of the National Committee on US-China Relations “Public Intellectuals Program.”
