BARBARA AMAYA is an internationally recognized advocate, speaker, trainer, consultant, author and survivor leader in the movement to end modern day slavery. She tells her moving story in “Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Lost Innocence, Modern Day Slavery and Transformation.” A training consultant with the Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center, Ms. Amaya has also facilitated mental health restoration groups and trainings for human trafficking survivors with Polaris and other leading organizations. An active member of both the State Department Human Trafficking Task Force and the Virginia Task Force, she works as a consultant to Seraphim Global on policy, programs and after care services. In 2014 Ms. Amaya received the James B. Hunter Human Rights Advocacy Award. She received her PHD in Organizational Psychology from the University of Delaware in 2015.
